Force India made an impression last year by securing a second place in Belgium and finishing the season very strongly. The Indian team starts 2010 as it ended 2009: at a very good level. As proof, both drivers are making it to Q2 today, and even more, Adrian Sutil reaches Q3.

The German ranks 10th, and with his strategy of starting on hard tires, he has a good chance of scoring several points. Liuzzi, for his part, experienced a slight technical issue preventing him from doing better than 12th place. The Italian can still be satisfied with his performance.

Adrian Sutil – 11th and 10th:

« I am very happy. I think going into Q3 shows that we all did a good job. This result in the very first qualifying is our best start in a long time. The team should be proud of this. Now, it’s time for the race; Our goal is to finish in the points (Editor’s note: Finish in the top 10). For now, I am 10th, but I think I can overtake one or two drivers. I am confident, especially since I am the only one in the top 10 on hard tires. It’s an advantage for tomorrow. »

« We are performing well with light fuel loads. And since everyone is on soft tires, we will be at our best at the right time. I think we will be able to gain positions. We are working hard, and it is gratifying to see 4 years of effort finally paying off. »

Tonio Liuzzi – 9th and 12th:

« I’m a bit disappointed and don’t really understand what’s happening with the car since the practice this morning. It seemed like I had a good balance, and then in qualifying, without changing much, I lost balance and power. That’s the main reason that prevented me from reaching Q3. Now, we need to work to understand what happened, but we are confident for tomorrow. »

Vijay Mallya – Director:

« I believe the entire team can be proud of this result. It’s a good start to the season and it marks our progress made during the winter. Last year, we couldn’t make it to Q2 here. Today, we are in the top 12… Of course, this doesn’t mean we’ll score points, but we have a better chance. »

« The particularly positive point is that Adrian [Sutil] is the only one in the top 10 to have chosen hard tires. This is an advantage when you see how quickly soft tires wear out in the heat. I would like to race now. I don’t want to wait! »
