Valencia Tests Day 1: Vettel is not an F1 champion for nothing

Sebastian Vettel hasn’t driven in Formula 1 for almost four months and like all the drivers present today in testing, he got to discover his new car. Bolstered by his 2010 world champion title, he sets the fastest time and inaugurates the 2011 Formula 1 season in the best possible way.

With a time of 1.13, he is ahead of the Force India of Nico Hülkenberg by less than two-tenths – the third driver of the Indian team. The Red Bull was unveiled this morning but did not experience any major technical problems. This is also the case for most of the cars, which show a very good level of reliability. Only Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher with the new Mercedes GP W02 experienced mechanical issues.

Note the good performance of Jérôme D’Ambrosio with Marussia Virgin Racing who achieved the 7th fastest time ahead of Petrov’s Lotus Renault.
