Starting from the clean side of the track, both Ferrari drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, hope to attack from the outset and gain a few precious positions on this usually overtaking-poor Hungarian circuit, thus preventing Red Bull's star driver, Sebastian Vettel, from widening the gap in the opening minutes of the race.

Despite his accident at the end of free practice 3, Sergio Perez managed to qualify for Q3, securing 9th place on the grid, thanks to the incredible work of his team of mechanics. His teammate, Jenson Button, only reached 13th place due to a lack of grip.

The Sahara Force India team was hoping for more from this qualifying, especially for Paul di Resta who finishes 18th, but the Scotsman will have many new tires to climb back in the race tomorrow. Adrian Sutil will start in 11th position and hopes to score points.

Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton were unable to outperform the Caterham drivers, but both men somewhat expected it. They now hope to be able to have a good race and possibly finish ahead of the green single-seaters.

Romain Grosjean, third, managed to outperform his teammate Kimi Räikkönen, who came sixth. Both drivers are therefore ideally positioned to deliver a great race and score big points. Victory does not seem out of reach...

Vettel was deprived of pole by a Lewis Hamilton on top form, while Mark Webber was denied a podium position due to his KERS, which once again failed to show up this afternoon in Hungary. Starting second behind a Mercedes that should be much less sprightly tomorrow, Vettel will logically aim for a big result while Webber will try to climb up the ranks.

Although Q1 went very well for both Williams drivers, they failed to raise their game in Q2. Pastor Maldonado finished 15th, just ahead of Valtteri Bottas.

Toro Rosso places a car in Q3 for the 5th consecutive time. Unfortunately for Jean-Eric Vergne, it's Daniel Ricciardo who enters the top 10 at the end of this qualifying session. The French driver couldn't really explain the gap he had compared to his teammate and will have to look at the telemetry to learn more. On his side, Daniel Ricciardo is obviously delighted with his Saturday afternoon.

Lewis Hamilton secured pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix this afternoon at the Hungaroring, but the Mercedes driver did not expect it. He is thrilled, although he knows it will likely be more challenging tomorrow. Nico Rosberg is happy with his lap even though he encountered a small problem.

Due to his engine problem and lost track time, Esteban Gutiérrez saw his qualifying end in Q1, but he hopes to make a comeback tomorrow. Nico Hülkenberg will start 12th, and the German driver aims for points.

Satisfaction at Caterham after outpacing both Marussia as Charles Pic finished 19th, just ahead of his teammate, Giedo van der Garde. Both drivers now hope to be able to fight with the cars ahead of them.
