It was a more than disappointing qualifying session for the Williams team today in South Korea, but the British team had decided to preserve as many new tires as possible to have an aggressive strategy in the race. It remains to be seen if this will pay off tomorrow in the race, as both drivers will start from very far back - Maldonado is 16th and Barrichello 18th.

The management of the tires will be the key to the Grand Prix. At least that's the opinion of the Red Bull team, which gambled on a different strategy in qualifying, allowing them to keep more new soft tires for tomorrow's race. The McLaren drivers had little track time during the first practice session today - 6 laps for Lewis Hamilton and only one for Jenson Button, his installation lap. In the second session, things picked up for the grays, with them recording the two fastest times, Button finishing a tenth behind Hamilton. But what is astonishing is the gap with their rivals, with Vettel in 3rd almost two seconds behind. And even though things shouldn't stay the same tomorrow, Lewis Hamilton is optimistic and hopes to secure pole position to break his bad streak.
