Sebastian Vettel seemed well on his way to continue his domination in Abu Dhabi, but a puncture decided otherwise. The German driver managed to return to his pit, but with his suspension too damaged, he could not continue, ending a streak of 19 races without a retirement. Mark Webber, on the other hand, did not have a difficult race and with a three-stop strategy, he could do no better than 4th. This Grand Prix also puts an end to a streak of 19 races with at least one Red Bull driver on the podium.

Jérôme d'Ambrosio did not manage to finish the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Belgian driver had a problem with his front brakes on his MVR-02, which forced him to retire early. His teammate, Timo Glock, managed to get ahead of the two HRT cars but still finished behind the two Team Lotus cars, resulting in a rather mixed outcome for the Marussia Virgin Racing team.

Qualified 17th and 18th on the starting grid respectively, Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli finished in the same positions at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. While they have nothing left to hope for in this end of the season, the British team achieves a decent qualifying session. For Vitaly Petrov, Q3 was not within reach; for Bruno Senna, there was room for improvement, and a mistake cost him a better position on the grid.
