Jean-Eric Vergne was eliminated in Q1 at Suzuka due to a rear brake fire that ended his session while he hoped to improve. Daniel Ricciardo wasn't any luckier as he had to settle for the 16th fastest time while he expected better. Starting from so far back, both Toro Rosso drivers anticipate a difficult race.

Lewis Hamilton will start just behind the two Red Bulls on the clean side of the track, and he hopes to take advantage of this to pose some problems for Vettel and Webber.
