Scuderia Ferrari dominated the final free practice session of the weekend in Barcelona, with Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel ahead of Mercedes, who were dominant on the previous day. Red Bull remain not far behind the leading quartet, even if they can't set their sights as high as their two main rivals for this afternoon's qualifying session.

Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel didn't have the easiest of Fridays, in addition to the windy conditions at the Barcelona circuit, leaving them in 3rd and 4th positions in the two practice sessions, one second behind the Mercedes in the morning and just over three tenths behind in the afternoon.

First European Grand Prix and first changes to the single-seaters. Red Bull remains 3rd on the grid. Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo set the 5th and 6th fastest times of the day in the two practice sessions, but they seem to have closed the gap on Ferrari somewhat on this Friday.

Fernando Alonso had a nightmarish first day at his home Grand Prix. The McLaren driver covered just a few metres in FP1 before dropping to the ground, and then just ten laps or so in FP2 to set the day's final time.

Despite the changes made in Barcelona, the Force India still seems a little behind on the fast laps. But Esteban Ocon remains confident of progress throughout the weekend, and is keeping points as his objective for the race.

Stoffel Vandoorne had a trouble-free first day, setting the 13th fastest time this afternoon, less than two seconds off Lewis Hamilton's best time. No cause for ecstasy, but a good start to the weekend that will give us confidence going into qualifying.

Lewis Hamilton once again set the fastest time in the second free practice session of the Spanish Grand Prix. The Ferraris managed to close the gap on the Silver Arrows, but remain 3rd and 4th. Good news for Spanish fans: Fernando Alonso was able to drive this afternoon!
