Despite a good start to the race, Sergio Pérez was unable to finish in the top 10 at the finish, primarily due to a late puncture. Jenson Button, on the other hand, managed to do so but not without difficulty; the Briton finished 9th, which allowed McLaren to further solidify its lead over Force India in the Constructors' Championship.

The Williams drivers were not in the game today at Suzuka and finished far behind. Pastor Maldonado made it a point of pride to get ahead of his teammate Valtteri Bottas, overtaking him in the last chicane on the final lap, with a somewhat cavalier maneuver that forced the Finn to cut the chicane.

Mission accomplished for Fernando Alonso as his 4th place prevents Sebastian Vettel from being crowned today. He also takes the opportunity to become the driver with the most points in F1 history, surpassing Michael Schumacher. For Felipe Massa, the race started well, but a penalty for speeding only allowed him to finish 10th.

Paul di Resta lost big by coming out of his first stop behind Valtteri Bottas. His early second stop ultimately cost him the point for 10th place as he finished 11th. Adrian Sutil, who started last on the grid, climbed up to 14th place but lost time behind the second Williams car, driven by Pastor Maldonado.

With a penalty imposed even before the start, Charles Pic's race promised to be complicated. Nevertheless, he managed to outpace Max Chilton and finish 18th. Giedo van der Garde only completed one turn as he collided with Jules Bianchi's Marussia.

On the occasion of Peter Sauber's 70th birthday, the two drivers had a superb race in Japan. After a great battle with the Ferraris, Nico Hülkenberg finished 6th. As for Esteban Gutiérrez, he scored his first points in Formula 1, thanks to a hard-fought 7th place against Nico Rosberg.

Red Bull signs a new double win. This time, it doesn't suffer any controversy as Sebastian Vettel managed to make the most of his strategy, despite a very poor start. So, there are four races left for Mark Webber to claim his last victory before leaving F1.

None of the Toro Rosso drivers were able to score points at the end of the Suzuka race. Jean-Eric Vergne was penalized by poor pit stops and finished only 12th, after starting 17th on the grid. His teammate, Daniel Ricciardo, was set to finish in the points before his penalty for overtaking Adrian Sutil off the track ruined his race.

After a fine qualification, Lewis Hamilton fell victim to too good a start which led to a puncture after a minor contact with Sebastian Vettel. The Englishman then had to retire while Nico Rosberg was hindered by a dangerous pit stop.

Romain Grosjean was the only threat to the two Red Bull drivers and must have made the French smile in front of their televisions. Kimi Räikkönen, on the other hand, made up for his poor qualifying and start to climb back to fifth position after a rather anonymous race.

While Romain Grosjean and then Mark Webber cast doubt on who would win for a good part of the race, it was Sebastian Vettel who once again triumphed in the Japanese Grand Prix. However, the German was not crowned champion, as Fernando Alonso finished 4th ahead of Kimi Räikkönen.

The entire F1 paddock was saddened to learn of Maria de Villota's passing on Friday, and the Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA) decided to pay tribute to the former Spanish driver before the Japanese Grand Prix, which will take place tomorrow in Suzuka.
